Bromley District Sides
U16s Bromley v Mid Kent (March 2006) - Bromley District in red and black
In 2003 the BRDG established Bromley District sides at U14 - U16 age groups to assist young players who were between Club / School level and County standard. The group hires high quality coaches to deliver a number of coaching sessions to players which lead towards inter-district Kent matches. The funding for the scheme has been supported by a number of successful Awards for All bids which were submitted by Nigel Putner (BRDG Treasurer) who is also the over-all co-ordinator of the District rugby in Bromley.
Bromley District Squad Objectives:
The core objectives of the scheme is to provide boys who are just below Kent County standard additional coaching to hopefully develop them into Kent squad players. It is hoped that the training they receive will…
- bridge the gap between club or school and County level
- to provide them with an incentive to play for their Borough, and
- to reward them for their effort
The boys who qualify for the Bromley squad will have been nominated by either their school or rugby club under the Kent squad nomination process, but have not made the final Kent squads and will have been unsuccessful at some point during the Kent selection process. Players eligible for the Bromley District Squad will need to either reside, go to school, or play for a club in the Borough. Boys who make the final Kent squads will NOT be part of the Bromley Squad, as they will be receiving Kent coaching and we are conscious of not over training players.
